ANKLE SYNDESMOSIS

Ankle syndesmosis is a ligamentous joint, which is an extra joint located just at the ankle. The tibia and fibula fuse together to form a tight joint. The joint has little mobility, but it is essential for proper movement and mobility.

During activity, a ligamentous sprain, or so-called ‘high’ ankle sprain, can occur. This injury involves the ligaments that bind the distal tibia and fibula at the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis. Injuries can occur with any movement of the ankle, but the most common movements that cause injury are high external rotation or dorsiflexion of the ankle bone.

Ankle syndesmosis torsion injury is most often treated conservatively with a special compression ankle orthosis OKD-34.

Product’s description:

The OKD-34 ankle band covers the entire upper ankle joint, providing therapeutic compression. This arrangement relieves pressure and soft tissues of the ligamentous joint. It relieves tension and pressure on the ligaments and the Distal Tibiofibular Syndesmosis, ensuring regeneration.

The OKD-34 ankle brace is made from breathable, waterproof UniPren™ material.

The OKD-34 syndesmosis band has a wide range of compression adjustments, providing a smooth fit for the user.

The OKD-34 ankle syndesmosis brace provides excellent compression, relieves pressure and relaxes the ankle ligament. The brace can be used after an injury as well as prophylactically, e.g. for sports, to prevent ankle joint injury.

The OKD-34 ankle syndesmosis brace is a universal product and can be used for both the right and left leg.

– an injury to the syndesmosis
– an overload of the syndesmosis
– sprain and/or sprain of the ankle
–  in sport

MATERIALS

UniPren™

UniPren™ is a universal 3-layer material consisting of an external elastic polyamide cover knit with a self-adhesive function, an internal neoprene foam core and an elastic jersey cover knit. This material is characterized by softness and very high flexibility. A very important advantage of this material is the fact that it is not a knitted product, it does not have thick fibers, so that the weaves of the material do not imprint on the patient's skin and do not cause abrasionsin places of high compression. Products made of UniPren™ are the strongest and most effective stabilizing orthoses available on the market. Self-adhesive function, the raw material makes it much easier to use.
