Colles fracture
A Colles Fracture is a complete fracture of the radius bone of the forearm close to the wrist resulting in an upward (posterior) displacement of the radius and obvious deformity. It is a very common injury, especially in the elderly, but also in children. There are a lot of symptoms such like a severe pain, swelling and deformation of the limb in the wrist area. Due to hormonal changes in the body, women over 65 are particularly prone to this type of fracture. It is osteoporosis that causes a reduction in bone density and makes it easier to break.
The fracture involves damage to the radius bone, which is why effective immobilization of both the wrist joint and the forearm is so important. In addition, it is extremely important to regularly check the condition of the hand, as a fracture in the forearm can damage blood vessels such as the radial artery, and this can lead to necrosis that is dangerous for the patient. Therefore, the use of professional orthopaedic braces is recommended for a stable Colles fracture. For this purpose, our OKG-16 thumb-wrist-elbow brace will work perfectly.

The OKG-16 upper limb brace has an innovative design that ensures full stabilization while maintaining the properties of a lightweight and comfortable supply.
The OKG-16 upper limb splint is made of two basic elements: the wrist and arm parts, connected to each other lateral, orthopaedic splint 1RE with smooth adjustable elbow range of motion.
The OKG-16 upper limb brace allows effective immobilization of the wrist joints, including the saddle joint of the thumb, the bones of the forearm and, if necessary, the elbow joint.
Our hand brace prevents dorsiflexion and palmar flexion of the wrist and the anatomical shaped splint keeps the wrist in a physiological neutral position, allowing it to heal effectively. If required, it is possible to shape the splint’s shape according to therapeutic recommendations.
In the upper part of the hand orthosis, orthopaedic stays are used along its entire length to further stabilization of the wrist and prevent active supination and pronation movements of the forearm. This is a very important benefit that ensures even more effective immobilization and recovery. The OKG-16 elbow and wrist brace maintains wrist’s functional position and forearm in pronation, recommended for effective fracture treatment.
Adjustable thumb-wrist-elbow brace with full elbow ROM adjustment OKG-16 is equipped with unilateral splint and comfortable elbow and forearm wraps. The brace has unilateral hinge option 1RE which offers full of range of motion adjustment in every 15 degrees. What is more, anatomic splint and hinge 1RE offers hyperextention adjustment -15 and -30 degrees what is important for maintaining the physiological elbow hyperextension.
Arm and forearm wraps are made of innovative fabric AirSanmed II™ easy to clean and chemical or vapor disinfection. Its optimum thickness also provides excellent pressure relief and eliminates uncomfortable pressure on the skin during use.
Internal part of the wrist and elbow brace OKG-16 is covered with skin-friendly foam and knitted fabric attested with Oeko-Tex100 Standard. This solution perfectly wicks moisture away from the wearer’s skin and keeps it dry, preventing the growth of bacteria.
Unlike traditional casting, the OKG-16 elbow and wrist splint has a fully open design, which allows systematic control of blood vessel and nerve function and ensures safety during Colles fractures recovery.
The open design of the brace makes it easy to put on and take off and to change dressings quickly.
Thumb-wrist-elbow brace OKG-16 is equipped with a few circumferential Velcro straps, which prevents against sliding and allows to keep individual compression.
The innovative open design of the OKG-16 upper limb splint and the wide range of circumferential adjustment allows the product to be applied quickly and easily and the compression to be adjusted smoothly according to the user’s needs.

AirSanmed II™
AirSanmed II™ is a multi layered intelligent orthopedic textile which is perfect for orthopedic braces production. It helps to maintain its functionality and high comfort of use. External vapour barrier is washable and possible to chemical or vapour disinfection. It is perforated and laminated with off loading foam. Due to this fact, the fabric is breathable and reduces the pressure of aluminum stays and splints. Off-loading foam is connected with soft, comfort foam improving the comfort of use. It’s laminated with soft, breathable cotton with pH neutral for human’s skin. This knitted cotton is certified with OekoTex Standard100 and fully skin-friendly.

STIFFENINGS
Plastic stays
They come in various widths and thicknesses, are made of various types of plastics, such as polyamide, ABS or acrylic, and these features determine their stiffness. Thanks to their design, they are resistant to water, moisture and sweat. Products equipped with them can be washed without having to remove them from the orthosis. Our plastic stays work only in one direction, perfectly stabilize the laterally protected part of the body, adjusting to it at the same time and have a memory function, thanks to which they always return to their original shape. This function causes the stays in the orthosis to stabilize the swollen limb immediately after the injury and after the swelling has come off. The plastic stays cannot bend and that is why, they cannot correct the body posture or the secured joint.
Splint 1RE
Splints 1RE – single axis orthopedic splints, used mainly in knee joint, upper limb and hip joint braces. The characteristic quality of this splint is, apart from wide range of motion adjustment in every 15 degrees, is also hyperextension adjustment in the secured range of -15 and -30 degrees. The splints are characterized by perfect lateral joint stabilization and low weight. The set-up of the angle adjustment clock doesn’t require any tools, and special safety system prevents the change of the angle by unauthorized people. The splints are made of high quality aluminium alloy and plastic with carbon fibre. They are light and neutral to the influence of sweat and salt, properly firm, assuring correct functioning of the device. The splint and its design are patented in European Union by Reh4Mat company.

3D relief supports are independent technical solutions to relieve the rigid elements of a given orthosis. These elements are made of supporting foams or EVA foam. These foams are connected with various types of skin-friendly materials and materials with an adhesive function. These pads have the appropriate shape and color adapted to the type of orthosis. They relieve both metal elements of orthoses, such as splints, stays, underwires and orthopedic drop locks, as well as other elements that should not come into direct contact with the patient's skin. These pads have an anatomical shape and are made of comfortable foam with proper hardness and elasticity, guaranteeing the proper therapeutic effect.
