Ankle sprain

Ankle sprains are often thought of as sports injuries. But you don’t have to be an athlete or even a “weekend warrior” to turn your ankle and hurt it. Something as simple as walking or running on an uneven surface can cause a painful sprain. It is also common in case of garden activity or work, e.g. in the warehouse.
An ankle injury occurs when the ankle joint is twisted too far out of its normal position. In this case, the soft tissues (ligaments, tendons and joint capsule) are overstretched and may be damaged. There are three stages of wound healing. The first one, inflammatory phase, begins at the time of injury and lasts up to four days. Proliferative phase occurs 3-5 days following an injury and includes inflammatory cells, fibroblasts and collagen. The last one, remodeling phase can continue for six months to one year after injury. The result of this phase is an organised, quality and functional scar similar to the tissue it is busy repairing. Wound healing is a long-term process. Due to this fact, using a professional orthopeadic brace is crucial for joint support.

Product’s description

Ankle brace AM-OSS-11 is a professional orthopedic brace in case of physical activity. The brace is equipped with lightweight footshell made of ABS. The brace offers two levels of stabilization.

Level I Using the ankle brace AM-OSS-11 by its own, offers ankle stabilization. Lateral orthopaedic stays prevents against ankle sprain or strain. Laced fastening offers full smooth compression. This solution is highly recommended when remodeling phase occurs.

Level II Using the ankle brace AM-OSS-11 together with footshell allows to maintain full physiological range of motion and full plantar and dorsiflextion. Footshell is attached on two sides of the brace and prevents against foot eversion and inversion. Due to this fact, it prevents against ankle sprain and strain perfectly. What is more, our footshell prevents against heel bone fracture in case of falling from a height. This solution is highly recommended when inflammatory and proliferative phases occur.

Ankle brace with footshell AM-OSS-11 is made of durable polyester technical fabric called Codura.

Inside parts are made of innovative fabric ActiveSpace™.

Internal layer of AM-OSS-11 ankle brace is covered with skin-friendly anti-slip silicone which maintains the brace on the leg even in case of high physical activity.

What is more, the brace is equipped with circumferential strap which offers additional stabilization of the upper ankle joint but does not limit the physological range of motion.

Laced construction allows to use AM-OSS-11 ankle brace in every kind of sport shoes. AM-OSS-11 brace can be used before and after ankle injury during physical activities. It has universal design and fits for both legs.

MATERIALS

ActiveSpace™

ActiveSpace™ is a spacer, polyamide 3D lamination with high skin ventilation. It is very lightweight, consisted of 2 layers. Between them, we use polyamide braids. ActiveSpace™ is not elastic what improves stabilization. Inside the lamination, between 2 layers, the air flows freely, maintaining minimal water and moisture absorption. Waterproof material.

CODURA®

CODURA® is extreme durable lamination made of polyamide with polyurethane layer and Teflon finishing. Structure of fabrics and method of milling make the fabric lightweight but very resistant to damages and extreme conditions. External layer is covered by Teflon. Our devices made of CODURA® are the thinnest and the most durable on the market. Waterproof material.

STIFFENINGS

Half-insole

The half-insole is made of ABS material and it is an additional element stabilizing the ankle joint and preventing it from twisting. The patient, by burdening the insole, prevents it from moving in the shoe, and thanks to this, strong side straps stabilize the ankle joint and significantly reduce the possibility of joint injury.

Spiral boning

Our orthopedic spiral boning is a thin wire, coiled into a spring and flattened. We use boning of various widths and wire thicknesses, which determines the strength of their stabilization. Each spiral boning has two specially profiled fittings to prevent damage of the orthosis. They are galvanically protected against corrosion by the galvanizing process, so they are resistant to water, moisture and sweat. Products equipped with bonings can be washed without removing them from the orthosis. They work in every direction, perfectly adjusting to the user's body and have a shape memory function, thanks to which they always return to their original profile. This function causes the spiral boning in the orthosis to stabilize the swollen limb immediately after the injury and after the swelling has come off.
