LIGAMENT INJURIES

The ligaments of the knee are short bands of tough, elastic connective tissue that provide stability to the joint. Knee ligament injuries can be caused by impact or injury during physical activity. One of the most common examples is twisting the knee while playing basketball or skiing.

The knee has four large ligaments that connect the bones together to form the joint.  They provide stability and strength to the joint. We can observe an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and the medial collateral ligaments (MCL) and lateral collateral ligaments (LCL). We may have a stand-alone ligament injury or a combined injury where two ligaments are damaged. Ligament injuries range from the least serious, i.e. pulling and tearing, to very serious, i.e. rupture, resulting in complete instability of the joint. Regardless of whether the specialist recommends conservative or surgical treatment, in both cases rehabilitation and immobilization of the joint in a professional knee brace OKD-27, will be necessary.

The frame of the OKD-27 po-op knee brace are made of low profiled aluminum, providing full length adjustment. This allows the product to be individually adapted to the user’s anatomy and the brace to be used in the acute phase immediately after the injury in the long option and then shortened as rehabilitation progresses. Changing the length of the product is done using an innovative press-slide mechanism.
The OKD-27 post-operative knee brace provides a wide range of adjustment of the 1RE drop lock, which allows the knee flexion angle to be gradually increased in 15-degree increments as part of the therapy. The hinge are designed in such a way that changing the flexion and extension angles is done without the use of any tools, and an additional safety system prevents unauthorized people from changing the angle.The straps have reflective pictograms, making the use of the brace also possible for people with visual impairments.

The lightweight pads through which the circumferential straps run are made of ultralight slightly elastic plastic, forming the Easy Fit Solution™ system, which allows the product to fit non-invasively to the circumference of the limb, even during activity when the muscles “grows” while exercises. This solution reduces the risk of a “pressure” feeling and ensures comfort.

The OKD-27 po-op knee brace has been equipped with a quick-release buckles, which has significantly improved its functionality and usability. The buckles allow to “memorize” the length setting of each circumferential strap separately. Thanks to this function, the user can be sure that each time the brace is put on again, it acts on the limb with the same level of compression, strictly defined by the doctor or therapist. The fastenings can be undone with one hand.

Active3D™ is thermoformed fabric made of special foamed, cell-closed designed material. It reduces the pressure on the body or any abrasions made by orthopaedic stays and aluminum splints. It is fully waterproof fabric and does not absorb sweat. It’s easy to clean. Due to its features, the fabric is an excellent product for making medical orthopaedic braces and orthoses. ACTIVE 3D™ has various external self-gripping layers. Our material has special, thermoformed properties and may be shaped according to the functional goals of the final braces.

EASY FIT Solution

The patented EASY FIT SOLUTION system is designed to enhance the fit of products to body curves and therapeutic needs of users. The system is intended for injury stabilization and posture correction.
It consists of universal inserts, which allow for the attachment of clips with elastic elements of the stabilization system and provide angular movement, enabling precise adjustment of products to the user's body curves.
Additionally, the inserts allow for circumferential guidance of straps, providing circumferential stabilization of the selected area. The system is attached to soft components of products such as lower and upper limb orthoses, vests, or circumferential belts.
EASY FIT SOLUTION enables combining rigid components (splints, bars) with elastic straps, providing an individual approach when using standard rehabilitation equipment.

Press-slide System – Regulation of the length of splint

Press-slide system is the another technological newness in our offer that we would like to introduce to You with a great pleasure. The adjuster of the length of splint Press-slide is the element of orthopaedic braces, designed especially according to the innovative rule – MiniMax (minimum choice, maximum effect). That is why, orthopaedic devices equipped with Press-slide system may be characterized by small dimensions, very low weight and significant ergonomics of usage. What is more, the system was engineered to facilitate the extension or the shortening of the splint to the patient in the most easy and safe way. Press-slide was made of special kind of plastic strengthened by fiberglass and thanks to that solution its durability is much more noticeable than in case of aluminium. Adjustment of splints is very easy – you just need to press the special button and ajustd the splint so that it would be fully comfortable for you. To make that activity easier, on the surface of the lower limb splints we placed the centimeter scale that defines the distance between knee joint and the end of thigh splint and shin splint. Regarding upper limb braces, we placed the scale that simplifies the repeatable splint adjustment.

Splint 1RE

Splints 1RE – single axis orthopedic splints, used mainly in knee joint, upper limb and hip joint braces. The characteristic quality of this splint is, apart from wide range of motion adjustment in every 15 degrees, is also hyperextension adjustment in the secured range of -15 and -30 degrees. The splints are characterized by perfect lateral joint stabilization and low weight. The set-up of the angle adjustment clock doesn’t require any tools, and special safety system prevents the change of the angle by unauthorized people. The splints are made of high quality aluminium alloy and plastic with carbon fibre. They are light and neutral to the influence of sweat and salt, properly firm, assuring correct functioning of the device. The splint and its design are patented in European Union by Reh4Mat company.
