Gamekeeper’s thumb

Gamekeeper’s thumb, so called Skier’s thumb, is a type of injury to the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) of the thumb. This ligament stabilizes MCP joint of the thumb. The UCL ligament injury mainly occurs due to inflammation, hit or falling onto an outstretched hand while holding a ski pole. The pinch grasp is weaker and thumb is painful after injury. We may observe bruising and swelling. UCL injuries are quite common amid athletes (volleyball or basketball), hunters and skiers who fall onto ski pole with outstretched hand.

In many cases, the treatment of UCL injury bases on joint immobilization which improves healing process. To do that we highly recommend our thumb brace with thermoforming pad AM-SP-05. Moreover, the brace prevents against the injury perfectly.

Product’s description

Thumb brace AM-SP-05 is an innovative product recommended for active people. The brace is made of lightweight and extremely thin fabric ProFit™ and breathable spacer material ActiveSpace™.

The brace is equipped with thermoforming thumb pad which prevents joint against or injury. It’s perfect product for active athletes where the risk of hitting the thumb is high such as contact sports or skiers.

Special system of non-elastic X-straps maintains the thumb in one position and makes the involuntary abduction and UCL overstretching impossible.

Our thumb brace AM-SP-05 has a unique design. There is no constrained motion of hand. The palm keeps the free movement and doesn’t limit the grasping hand function.

Additional loop for small finger maintains the product on the hand and prevents against involuntary sliding or rotating even in case of high physical activity.

Our thumb brace with thermoforming pad AM-SP-05 protects the UCL ligament against the injury and keeps the thumb immobilized for promoting healing and fast recovery without constrained motion of the hand.

ActiveSpace™

ActiveSpace™ is a spacer, polyamide 3D lamination with high skin ventilation. It is very lightweight, consisted of 2 layers. Between them, we use polyamide braids. ActiveSpace™ is not elastic what improves stabilization. Inside the lamination, between 2 layers, the air flows freely, maintaining minimal water and moisture absorption. Waterproof material.

ProFit™

ProFit™ is a double-layer fabric that is elastic in all directions and fits to limb precisely. The external side is made of spandex providing excellent compression and absorbs muscle shocks in physical activity. The internal side consists of microfibre, cotton and elastane what makes it skin-friendly, breathable and provides velvet softness. ProFit™ is friendly and neutral for the skin and has Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificate. In some products this material can have an internal elastic cotton layer.

3D supports

3D relief supports are independent technical solutions to relieve the rigid elements of a given orthosis. These elements are made of supporting foams or EVA foam. These foams are connected with various types of skin-friendly materials and materials with an adhesive function. These pads have the appropriate shape and color adapted to the type of orthosis. They relieve both metal elements of orthoses, such as splints, stays, underwires and orthopedic drop locks, as well as other elements that should not come into direct contact with the patient's skin. These pads have an anatomical shape and are made of comfortable foam with proper hardness and elasticity, guaranteeing the proper therapeutic effect.
