AM-OSN-U-24 – THUMB ABDUCTION BRACE
Description
SKIER’S THUMB
Skier’s thumb, also known as ‘player’s thumb’ or De Quervain’s syndrome, is an injury to the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in the thumb region caused by repetitive movement of the hand, thumb and wrist. This ligament is designed to stabilise the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb. When it is damaged, as a result of an impact, fall or overload, then there is a definite weakening of the hand’s grip function and pain. In the case of significant damage, there is redness and swelling. Injuries to the ulnar collateral ligament of the thumb are quite common in athletes (volleyball players, basketball players), hunters, and skiers who fall on a slope with their visited thumb on a ski pole.
In most cases, treatment of a UCL ligament injury in the thumb is limited to immobilisation of the joint in thumb-opposition, which allows the ligament to regenerate. For this purpose, our thumb abduction brace AM-OSN-U-24 will work perfectly. The thumb stabiliser also has a preventive effect, preventing injury during physical activity.
The AM-OSN-U-24 thumb abduction brace provides therapeutic compression, helping to reduce swelling and bruising.
The product has a special elastic strap that keeps the thumb in a neutral position. As a result, inflammation of ligaments, joint capsules and tendons is reduced and the risk of uncontrolled thumb adduction is limited.
The AM-OSN-U-24 thumb brace also features an elastic wrist wrap-around strap, which positions the product on the limb and provides additional stabilisation of the joint.
The brace immobilises only the thumb, so the other fingers retain full mobility and functionality.
The AM-OSN-U-24 thumb abduction brace is a comfortable medical product that does not restrict the mobility of the hand. Therefore, it can be used both post-traumatically and prophylactically in sports.

MATERIALS
AirRubber III™
AirRubber III™ has unidirectional elasticity. It can be stretched, increasing the length, not width, what improves compression. Between the braids air flows freely and skin can breathe. In addition in high compression, these rubber braids provide a gentle massage for skin. Our orthopedic rubber is very friendly for skin.
UniPren™
UniPren™ is a universal 3-layer material consisting of an external elastic polyamide cover knit with a self-adhesive function, an internal neoprene foam core and an elastic jersey cover knit. This material is characterized by softness and very high flexibility. A very important advantage of this material is the fact that it is not a knitted product, it does not have thick fibers, so that the weaves of the material do not imprint on the patient's skin and do not cause abrasionsin places of high compression. Products made of UniPren™ are the strongest and most effective stabilizing orthoses available on the market. Self-adhesive function, the raw material makes it much easier to use.
