FLOW MOTION Technology
These are advanced aluminium splints with an innovative hinge that provides an anatomical knee range of motion. It is important to remember that the knee joint is not just an isolated flexion and extension movement. As a hinge joint, the knee joint primarily allows movement along a single axis in flexion and extension of the knee in the sagittal plane, but it also allows for a small amount of medial rotation during flexion and the final stage of knee extension, as well as lateral rotation during ‘unlocking’ of the knee.
Modern FLOW MOTION Technology splints have been developed to best reflect the anatomical movement of the knee joint. Taking into account the physiological properties of the joint, all knee braces fitted with FLOW MOTION Technology hinges not only support the knee during flexion and extension, but also maintain constant contact between the articular surfaces of the thigh and shin, which enables the natural rotational movements of the joint to be maintained and supports the knee in any physiological range.
The use of a 4-axis articulating mechanism and four-bar linked idea of knee anatomical movement, with hinge’s inserts moving relative to each other, ensure constant contact of the joint surfaces over the full physiological range of the knee and effectively reduce the risk of damage and injury.
